Join us for a day of planting at our newly restored Upper Deer Creek access point! Your work will help the revegetation of this land in an effort to prevent soil erosion, restore plant populations and soil fertility, and combat pollution.

Every Wednesday, the Gallatin River Task Force joins our Big Sky friends and neighbors at the Town Center Farmers' Market. We'll be on hand to discuss water conservation, river restoration, and natural-resource stewardship. Help us spread the word throughout our headwaters community.

According to the EPA, the average household's leaks can account for nearly 10,000 gallons of water wasted every year and ten percent of homes have leaks that waste 90 gallons or more per day. Join us at the Big Sky Post Office to learn how to find and fix your leaks from March 15th through the 17th!

Help keep the Gallatin clean! For the third year in a row, the Gallatin River Task Force and the Gallatin Watershed Council are teaming up to clean up the river.
Volunteers will fan out across the watershed from Yellowstone National Park to Belgrade, collecting trash at popular access points along the river.

Last spring, we partnered with the Big Sky Community Organization to host a community-wide dog-waste cleanup. Excess dog waste can pollute our sensitive water resources, contaminating surface and groundwater. By picking up after our dogs, we can do our part to protect our beloved Gallatin while still enjoying our local trail systems with our canine companions.

The Task Force and the Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) first identified an “algae problem” in the West Fork Watershed in 2005 by monitoring both nutrients and algae biomass. Join us on the river and get ready to get your hands dirty with some rock scraping and data collection!
